The History of Catchin' Waves

What is up CP Fans, Crzypengu here with the latest updates. We only have less than a month left to experience the desktop version of Club Penguin and throughout the Month of March I will be putting out a new piece of History about every single mini-game that is on Club Penguin and today we will be having a look at the game Catchin' Waves.

Catchin' Waves is a mini-game that was first released on June 4, 2007 and is located at the Cove on the Club Penguin Island, and for me it was the first new mini-game to come out when I joined in May 2007. In this game you have to use your cursor by either going up or down to guide the penguin on the surfboard on the location you want him/her to go. You are also given three lives a game which must be used wisely or try not to lose them at all. There are four different game modes on here as well which include Surf Lesson, Freestyle, Competition, and Survival Mode. On Surf Lesson Mode you are given tips and tricks on how to surf and is the easiest of all the modes. Freestyle Mode is a normal surfing mode where you can do all the things you learned from Surf Lesson and allows you to earn points depending on what kind of tricks and moves you do throughout the game. Competition Mode is a bit tricky if you do not know all of the moves, but luckily three judges at each session tell you what they want to see and of course it will tell you on the game how to do the moves they want to see. Competition Mode is extremely fun to do but can be challenging to get a perfect 10 score from each judge. Finally there is Survival Mode which is the hardest mode to complete in which you will have to go through the Rough Seas and avoid Icebergs along the way. If you are able to get near the end of this mode then a Shark will appear to knock you out in which you can then finish the game if you still have extra lives left. What is really nice about this game along with some others is you are able to bring your Red Puffle with you to make more points, but it will be unable to join you in Survival Mode as it seems to be afraid of what is to come.

Catchin' Waves also allows Members to purchase the Flame Surfboard, the Daisy Surfboard, and the secret Silver Surfboard which is the fastest of them all and is best to use in Survival Mode. These Surfboards were all released on August 31, 2007 and allowed the members to use them in the game as said before. On July 26, 2010 the Stamps for the mini-game were released and made Competition and Survival Modes only playable for Members. In November 2013 Club Penguin updated the game and allowed Penguin to carry a Puffle and a hand item at the same time so they can not only use a different Surfboard, but they can also have their Red Puffle with them as well. The Cove originally opened on May 24, 2007 but Catchin' Waves was surprisingly not released until two weeks later. Screenhog has said the reason for this is because the CP team wanted to coincide with the Movie Surf's Up where it came out the same week and it was when there was a partnership between Club Penguin and Sony.

Thank you all so much for reading about The History of Club Penguin's very own mini-game Catchin' Waves. This game can very fun and very stressful as it has one of the toughest stamps on the entire island. Anyways I hope you all enjoy the Gameplay Videos that can be found below and until next time this is Crzypengu saying Waddle On!
